Well Happy New Year to all!!

I hope you all had a really great Christmas and New Year and are now ready to get painting again. A few items of note in this newsletter include a price rise by Snazaroo, a face painting competition for newletter subscribers to enter along with our usual offers to members.

Now we’re in a new year it’s time to take a good look at your face painting kits. Do you have a sparkling kit you would be proud to show off? If not now is the time to have a good clean up.

For the paints use an old sponge to wipe over the top of all your paints to bring them back to their original colour, this will be very important if you tend to mix your colours. To clean the bases of the paints use an old damp flannel it will take a bit of time, depending on the size of your kit, but it is definitely worth doing. Use the flannel to wipe out your kit box also, it’s is amazing how well glitter sticks!! This may be the time of year to set a resolution to clean your kit thoroughly after each use.

Sponges and brushes should be cleaned after every use anyway. The best way to clean sponges after a heavy day painting is to put them in a delicates bag in the washing machine with non-bio washing powder, if you do this after every use it will keep staining to a minimum.

Take stock of your kit and see what needs to be renewed or is going to run out soon. This can be a good time to get some good deals on paints and supplies - see below.

Thank you to all who have added photos to the site seeing different styles and techniques is always brilliant. Over the next couple of months we will be running a face painting picture competition.

First prize will be a £10.00 voucher to spend in the shop.

Second prize will be a £5.00 voucher to spend in the shop.

What is wanted are pictures of faces you are proud of, faces you like doing or one you’ve been working hard at perfecting.   All who receive the news letter are welcome to enter. (If your friends want to enter get them to sign up for the letter!) The competition will be open until the end of March, all pictures sent in will be displayed on a special page on the web site. Email your picture or pictures (any size or format, we can adjust them to suit the site) to competition@facepaintingdesigns.co.uk

The winners will be chosen by you yourselves, all who receive the news letter will be able to email in 2 votes for their favourite faces, the winners will be announced in mid April. Email your votes to competition@facepaintingdesigns.co.uk   (Suggest you wait until the end of March, so you get a chance to see all the pictures ) Voting will close on April the 7th.

Valentines day will soon be upon us hearts and flowers every where! Here is an example of cheek art to inspire you:

Kept quite simple a heart and flower together like this can look very effective without taking over the face, it can also make a pretty tattoo on arm or ankle.

A recent development for the shop is that Snazaroo have increased their prices by about 7% across the board from 1st. January this year. This means that we will have to increase the shop prices soon but will hold them until the end of February when we will be forced to fall into line. (for example the standard 18ml colour has gone up 7.5% to £3.39 RRP - still at £2.75 in our shop.)

For February we will be running a special offer on Snazaroo  18ml standard colours. What we thought we would do is seeing that Snazaroo prices were going up by 7%, we'll drop ours by the same amount. For the month of February 18ml standard colours will be £2.55 Orders need to be in by 29th February to get this great deal! If you wish to take advantage of this offer email us a list (mail@facepaintingdesigns.co.uk) of what you require and we'll send you a special payment code. (Postage rates remain the same).

Blood and special effects products will soon be added to the shop. Everything needed to create realistic cuts, bullet holes and much more so keep your eyes out for the launch! There will be a step by step guide on how to make a realistic bullet hole added to the designs section of the website at the same time. More exciting products may be added later in the year!!
