HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

Here's some good tips to help ensure childrens' safety over Halloween from a local Police Force based on the Suzy Lamplaugh Trust advice.

  • Children should always go out in groups and younger children should be accompanied by an adult.

  • Parents should ensure that their children know that they should not enter anyone's house or accept lifts in cars.

  • Parents should reinforce to their children that they should not do anything to upset or annoy people.

  • Some masks can obstruct a child's vision, which could be dangerous, particularly when crossing roads. Consider face painting instead of wearing masks.

  • Parents and children also need to be aware of the effect that painted faces or the wearing of masks can have on people who open their doors to them.

  • Children should carry torches and remain in well lit areas.

  • Children should wear visible clothing and have reflective tape on their costumes.

  • Both parents and children should avoid calling on the elderly and vulnerable members of our communities.
